About the visit
Ipsen is a leading biopharmaceutical group dedicated to improving lives through innovative medicines in oncology, neuroscience and rare diseases. The Wrexham site is one of 7 Global Manufacturing sites and is the home of Neuroscience. The drug Dysport, which is manufactured in Wrexham is based on a type-A botulinum toxin, which inhibits the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscle. It is used to treat a wide range of muscle related conditions such as spasticity, multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries.
Enterprise Excellence – Site Wide
The site in Wrexham has embraced the Shingo Model of Enterprise Excellence. This provides a strong framework for Continuous Improvement across all areas – not just production. With a focus on visual management and team ownership the site has developed tiered visual control boards and uses Lean tools (such as 5S, PDCA, Kanban and Gemba Walks) to reduce waste and improve productivity. On the visit you will get to talk with the teams that have embraced and implemented the changes within their own areas.
Central to Wrexham’s Continuous Improvement framework is the desire to engage employees at all levels and create a culture of ownership. This is achieved to a very high standard and on the visit you will hear about the tools and techniques they have used to make this happen. They will share with visitors ideas such as their reward and recognition scheme, tiered meetings and a focus on their Action Principles which are: Accountability, Agility, Results Orientation and Team Spirit.
